For this assignment I would like you to create a Chess set. I will give you basic parameters for the size of the chess pieces but you will have to define the final design. This final assembly will be used for renderings in the Inventor studio.

• Revolve – Used for creating Chess pieces.
• Derived Part (Sketch) – Used for part profiles in a Master set of sketches.
• Lights – Used in Inventor Studio for casting lights.
• Camera – Used in Inventor Studio for scene selection.
• Materials – Used to define the materials that are rendered in the scene.

Let’s Begin

1. In a new part create an extruded square 1.5” x 1.5” x .125”. Remember to anchor one corner of the sketch to the project origin point. Save the part named as “CHESS_Square”.
2. Open a new assembly and insert 4 copies of the “CHESS_Square”.
3. Constrain the 1st square at the corner to the XY, XZ & YZ planes.
4. Constrain the other pieces to the 1st piece in a positive X and Y direction.
5. Change the materials for the opposite corner pieces.
6. Create a 4x4 linear array of the original 4 pieces spaced at 2.5” on the X & Y axis.
7. Create a new part and name it “CHESS_Profile”. This will be your master profile for the chess pieces.
8. Close the existing sketch and then delete it.
9. Create a new sketch on the XZ plane label it Profile.
10. Project the origin point.
11. Create a box anchored off the origin point as a construction line. This will be your base outline for your chess pieces.
